Future of healthcare in Penicuik

As you will be all too aware, the future of healthcare services in Penicuik is a concern to many. Recent changes to how facility management charges are calculated for GP’s, coupled with ongoing pressures on wider NHS resources, have raised questions about the future of care in our community.

I have been contacted by numerous local residents, community organisations and healthcare professionals who are all worried about the potential long-term impact on Penicuik. As a direct result of NHS Lothian’s actions, facility management costs have increased by 100% and is likely to lead to a loss of up to 20% of existing GP appointments.

The Scottish Government are wanting to make short term financial savings without considering long term impacts.

To ensure I have an accurate representation of your experiences and concerns about the future of healthcare in Penicuik, I have put together a short survey. Your feedback will help me advocate on your behalf with the NHS and the Scottish Government. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey overleaf.

I am committed to ensuring that our community’s healthcare needs are recognised and addressed.
