Scottish Conservative MSP Craig Hoy has issued a call for residents in South Scotland to nominate a Local Hero to secure a coveted place at the ceremonial opening of the Scottish Parliament in October
The call comes as MSPs are being asked to nominate one of their constituents who have made an extraordinary contribution to the lives of other people living in Scotland locally or nationally during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Craig will review all the nominations and select his “Local Hero” to attend the opening of the Scottish Parliament.
The South Scotland MSP will also invite a selection of those nominated to Parliament once Covid restrictions have eased.
Craig said, “During the pandemic thousands of volunteers stepped forward to support our communities. It is fantastic that Scotland’s MSPs are being invited to identify a Local Hero and I look forward to the support of people across the South of Scotland to identify who this should be.”
“I also look forward to learning more about the huge amount of volunteer work that has been done across the region and to welcoming the people and groups responsible for this hugely important work to our Parliament.”
