TWEEDDALE MP David Mundell was joined by Craig Hoy, a South Scotland Conservative MSP, for his first in-person advice surgeries in the area since Covid restrictions were eased.
They met constituents in the Peebles and Innerleithen areas to discuss issues and concerns affecting them.
Afterwards, the two representatives took a short break at Caldwells Luxury Ice Cream Parlour in Innerleithen and sampled their home-made ice cream.
Mr Mundell said: “It was a refreshing change to be able to get out and about meeting constituents face to face after the restrictions were relaxed.
"Whilst we've adapted through the health emergency by using more online and telephone surgeries, there is nothing quite as effective as having face-to-face contact.
"It was great to be joined by Craig, who was able to add a Scottish Parliament perspective and contacts on issues raised with us."
Mr Mundell added: "It was also a joy to catch up, in a socially distanced way, with constituents who I had not been able to see face-to-face for such a long time."
Mr Hoy said: “I was delighted to join David in Peebles and Innerleithen and to meet with residents to discuss some of the issues affecting the Scottish Borders.
"David is an incredibly hard-working local MP who has served this area well over the last sixteen years.
“Covid has presented a challenge to both public health and livelihoods in the area and David and I look forward to supporting the local community through the recovery.”
He added: “If you are local to the area and in need of any support from either of us, please feel free to contact either myself or David. We are both keen to engage and happy to help.”
