Craig Hoy, a Conservative MSP for South Scotland, joined John Lamont MP in a visit to Galashiels.
The Conservative duo discussed the provision of local rail services, housing, schools and roads.
John is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk constituency, which includes Galashiels and its surrounding area.
Commenting on the visit, Craig said, “I was delighted to join John in Galashiels to discuss some of the issues affecting the Scottish Borders. John is an incredibly hardworking local MP who has served this area well over the last four years.
“Covid has presented a challenge to both public health and livelihoods in the area and John and I look forward to helping drive the local recovery.
“If you are local to the area and in need of any support from either of us, please feel free to contact either myself or John. We are both keen to engage and happy to help.”
John Lamont said: “It was great to have Craig here in Galashiels. There are challenges ahead for our local economy and it was good to discuss how the UK and Scottish Parliaments can work together to deliver improvements.
“We also talked about the proposed timetable change for Galashiels, Stow and Tweedbank stations and how this will affect local people.
“Craig is a brand new MSP but he has hit the ground running. We will be holding surgeries together in the Galashiels area in the coming weeks.”
