CRAIG Hoy, a Conservative MSP for South Scotland, has submitted a motion to Members of the Scottish Parliament congratulating Belhaven Brewery on their success at this year’s Global Beer Awards.
The East Lothian brewery was named ‘Visitor Attraction of the Year’ at the awards, having previously been crowned as producing the world’s best Oatmeal Stout and the UK’s best Oat Stout last month.
Mr Hoy, who is the Convener of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on Beers and Pubs, said: “I was delighted to celebrate this spectacular achievement with Members of the Scottish Parliament.
“Belhaven Brewery’s visitor experience is a fascinating visit which I would highly recommend, and Belhaven offer a wide-selection of award-winning ale and stout products.
“The brewery plays a vital role for the local economy, and I warmly congratulate them on this great success.”
Hoy’s motion to Parliament reads: “That the Parliament congratulates Belhaven Brewery on being named Visitor Attraction of the Year at the Global Beer Awards; understands that the awards were launched in 2022 to celebrate every aspect of the global beer industry; further understands that the Dunbar-based attraction was opened in November 2021; recognises that Belhaven Brewery won the award after being assessed by a panel of industry experts, writers and competition judges; understands that Belhaven Brewery offer a wide range of award-winning ales brewed in Dunbar, and further understands that the brewery is a major part of East Lothian’s economy, which supports many jobs in the Dunbar area.”
