VOLUNTEERS from across East Lothian recently raised £1126.55 for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The event was organised by local North Berwick campaigner Judy Lockhart-Hunter and community activist Sarah Russell at North Berwick’s Abbey Church.
The duo were joined by Craig Hoy MSP and local ward councillor Jeremy Findlay, who served home-baked treats and coffee to local residents.
Children’s entertainer Gladys Chucklebutty, aka. Dunbar and East Linton Councillor Donna Collins was also in attendance, and entertained young and old with balloon modelling displays at the coffee morning.
Event organiser Sarah Russell said: “I am delighted that so many residents from across the community came together to support Macmillan Cancer Support at our coffee morning in North Berwick.
“The atmosphere was extremely positive, and thanks to the generosity of local residents we were able to raise a staggering £1126.55 to support Macmillan and the wonderful support they provide for people affected by cancer.”
Local MSP Craig Hoy added: “It was wonderful to see so many people from across the county coming to support Macmillan.
“Sarah and Judy did a fantastic job of organising and raising awareness for the event.”
Judy Lockhart-Hunter said: “It is great to have coffee mornings back again after COVID and what better a cause to raise money for than Macmillan!
“Many people spoke of how important the charity is to them following personal experiences and we were thrilled to raise such a fantastic amount.
“Thanks to everyone who came along and donated generously.”
