CRAIG Hoy, a Conservative MSP for South Scotland, has praised NB Gin’s multi-award-winning visitor experience located at Halflandbarns near North Berwick following a recent visit to the distillery.
The five-star Visit Scotland attraction has won a swathe of awards including the 2022 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award and their original NB Gin was recognised as the World’s Best London Dry Gin at the World Drinks Awards in 2015 and received a gold award in the Navy Strength category of the 2017 Gin Masters.
The eco-distillery includes a Cellar Door Shop open Wednesday-Friday 10am-4pm where customers can bring their empty bottle for a refill and they offer tours of its distillery room and a relaxing venue space for their gin-tasting experience. It is North Berwick’s second-highest rated visitor attraction after nearby Tantallon Castle.
During the visit, Mr Hoy explored the impact that the Scottsish Government’s Deposit Return Scheme could have on the sector, amid warnings that it will lead to significant cost pressures for small independent producers.
Craig Hoy MSP, who is the convener of the Cross Party Group on Beer and Pubs in the Scottish Parliament, said: “Scotland’s alcohol-related hospitality sector is currently under severe pressure as a result of the Scottish Government’s Deposit Return Scheme and potential advertising ban on all alcohol related products, as well as price rises due to the global cost of living crisis.
“NB Gin has a premium gin offering at an affordable price range, which is distilled and bottled right here in East Lothian – supporting local jobs and tourism.”
Jenny Martin, Customer Relations Manager for NB Gin said: “We are very proud of our products and the visitor experience we provide. As well as our world class spirits, we are a 5 star tourist attraction helping to promote East Lothian and the best of Scottish gin.”
