CRAIG Hoy, a Conservative MSP for South Scotland, has submitted a motion to Members of the Scottish Parliament congratulating the Friends of Ormiston Park voluntary group for winning a Green Flag Award.
The international award recognises well-managed parks and green spaces around the world, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
Craig Hoy MSP commented: “I am delighted to bring forward this motion to recognise the Friends of Ormiston group for their work in maintaining and supporting the development of Ormiston Park as a recreational outdoor space. The park has become a treasured space for local residents in recent years thanks to the hard-work of volunteers from the Friends of Ormiston Park group.”
The motion reads: “That the Parliament congratulates the Friends of Ormiston Park for winning a Green Flag Award; recognises that the International Green Flag Award acts as a benchmark for clean, safe and well-maintained parks and green spaces; understands that the award supports opportunities to provide exercise, improve mental wellbeing and provide safe spaces for play; and recognises what it sees as the great benefits that Ormiston Park offers to the people of East Lothian and further afield.”
